Patent Bet Calculator
Calculate returns from your 7 bets with 3 selections.
This patent calculator settles all seven bets of a patent bet on three selections: three singles, three doubles and a treble. Mark each pick, type the odds, and the return updates as you type. A patent bet is a betting term and has nothing to do with inventions.
A patent bet is seven bets on three selections: three singles, three doubles and one treble. It costs seven times your unit stake, and one winner still pays out because of the singles.
The Patent exists because it combines the flexibility of single bets with the potential upside of multiple bets. If all three selections win, your returns multiply quickly; if only one wins, you still recover some stake through the singles.

Seven times your unit stake. A £1 patent costs £7. A 50p patent costs £3.50. Each way doubles it to 14 bets.

| Singles | 3 |
| Doubles | 3 |
| Treble | 1 |
| Total | 7 |
Patent or trixie?
A trixie is the same three selections without the singles: three doubles and a treble, four bets. It costs four times the unit stake instead of seven, and needs two winners to return anything. A patent pays on one winner. Untick Singles in the tool to turn a patent into a trixie and compare.
Each way patent
Fourteen bets: seven to win and seven to place. Set the place terms under each selection. A horse that places pays the place part of every bet it is in.

Built for a phone, not a desk
Most bet calculators are a desktop form buried in a page of adverts and articles. This one is one screen, made for a phone in the bookies or on the sofa. Tap the bets you want to place and they light up. Mark each pick Won, Lost or NR before you type a price, so losers need no odds at all. The total sits at the bottom of the screen the whole time. Every calculator on this site is the same tool with a different bet loaded, so there is nothing new to learn from page to page.
